Many people find that learning how to carve a spoon with hand tools is one of the most enjoyable, relaxing, and empowering things to do. In this class we will go over the basic tools needed to carve spoons from green wood, how to use them safely and confidently, how to select wood for spoons, and the basics of shaping and designing a strong and useful wooden spoon. Who doesn't love a good wooden spoon? They are joyful pieces of craft and art that we use everyday, can be made with an inexpensive toolkit, and without the dust and noise of a conventional woodshop. You'll leave this class with an itch to carve and a wonderful hobby that will fill your life with rich, beautiful spoons.

Materials fee: $10

A select number of high-quality carving axes and knives will be available for purchase.
